HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2009 passed us like a flash of lightning, it was a somewhat bitter sweet year for us. We were unfortunate to have witnessed the demise of a great and talented musician who has carved the careers of many and his musical influences are borderless, Michael Jackson. A man so great even my own boss cites him as his musical inspiration.

The sweet part that occured for most parts of the year was our journey on the Mosaic bandwagon definitely soared to new heights! With shows that made us overjoyed, a visit to a foreign land and the icing on the cake, the launch of my maestro's debut album DiversiFy!

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all those who have been with us throughout the year and we look for nothing but your support in the coming year.

An early Christmas, thanks to Hannah Tan!

Hannah Tan organized a concert for the underprivileged, a real nice gesture by her side before she leaves to Japan for a two year recording deal. It was nice to see so many celebrities join the cause!

Held at the Garden’s Hotel on 20th December, this event was attended by the Japanese Ambassador to Malaysia who even wowed the crowd by singing two songs, in Malay might I add! How radical was that?!

This was my first time meeting Hannah and it was really a meeting I will not forget, she was so bubbly and full of life, and all that while she was nursing a sore throat and flu, her team was great too! Made us all feel comfortable, well it was a real X Mas party! And no one is mean when it comes to X Mas!

Performers that rocked the ballroom that night included, Reefa, Sasi the Don, Meet Uncle Hussein, Reymee of Innuendo, Jojo Struys who tapped danced!, Harith Iskandar, The Ramanados and my favorite the man with the soulful voice Liang!

Liang actually collaborated with Dennis on one of DiversiFy’s tracks, watching that man perform live is pure bliss! Plus he’s one of the nicest celebs I have met, such a joker too, oh and a super snazzy dresser!

Shawn Lee managed to make the young and old all have a temporary lapse of sanity when he opened the show with the Phantom Dancers and Hannah Tan, performing his beat boxing skit, we don’t call him an extraordinaire for nothing yeah?

Now comes the juicy part, Dennis was slated to perform his hit song Prelude in F minor alongside Malaysia’s Kenny G, Jimmy Sax, however during sound check he stroke a note with Ash Nair and they decided to collaborate on one of Ash’s songs from his album! Everyone knows Ash has a heavenly voice, and great guitar skills too! Great collaboration, one that is sure to repeat itself in the future, I loved their performance at No Black Tie and loved it even more this time around!

Seeing my bossy play his violin and that too with such ease, even on a song he just rehearsed moments ago, makes me feel special for having known him and also have the once in a lifetime opportunity to work with him.

After all, where else do you get the chance to hang with celebs? And be able to watch them from the side of the stage! Beats VIP seating I tell you!
Piccie time!
View of the ballroom in all it's splendour.

Maestro looking dashing as ever =)

Maestro, gorgeous Hannah Tan, Stephy and muah!

Shopping to our Tune =)

If you were shopping in the Garden’s mall during the weekends of December, you would have heard a jazz band entertaining the shoppers with jazz renditions of Christmas songs? Well lo and behold, those tunes were churned out by the wonderful line up of musicians Mosaic has to offer!

Dressed in red and sometimes adorning Santa’s hat, our saxophonist, double bassist, keyboardist and sometimes a dynamic vocalist played Xmas songs for half an hour every weekend, much to the delight of families shopping.

Nothing to get you into the real Christmas mood than the sound of music!

Hope you had a great time listening to them while shopping! It was truly fun for the whole family =)
Picture time!
The crowd obviously entertained by the band =)

Parkson was entertained yet again =)

The folks at Parkson are great at throwing parties, especially one’s for their elite card holders. If your not a card holder, head over to the nearest Parkson Department store and find out how to become one. It’s real simple =)

This time around, they really wanted to party the night away and asked for a 4 Piece Band ! That is a Singer, Drummer, Keyboardist and Bassist and we being in the Christmas mood decided to give them a bonanza and offered our best Saxophonist =)

Dennis entertained the crowd in yet another one of his Highlight performance, yes that highlight performance that makes the ladies go gaga and the men turn green with jealousy! After all how many can boasts violin skills, good looks and might I add a true humanitarian! Hey didn’t I already mention I have the world’s coolest boss!

The gorgeous Serena C was the emcee of this event, and she manages to talk her way through everyone’s hearts, such a lovely pocket sized lady she is. One that can probably talk her way through anything ;)

Our band had an awesome time performing for the shoppers and guests at Parkson, it’s always great especially when we have the best line up and the more instruments the more fun filled! Everything from jazz to the most up tempo of songs was played.

Plus a little something something from the Maestro himself, he’s such a Santa Claus when it comes to Christmas and he decided to put on a little performance with the band and do rendition of Rudolph a Red Nose Reindeer! Spectacular isn’t it?

Speaking of Christmas, did you check out Pavilion’s Christmas decoration during the holiday season? Simply beautiful, really set a high standard in terms of Christmas decorations =)

Pictures to tickle your fancy =)

A Journey Through Time Part 1

YTL has this event every year where they showcase the best in time pieces from around the world and also highlight many environmental factors during an eleven day period. This event is in their third year running and they have enlisted the talented Dennis Lau to perform alongside Jimmy Sax for these eleven days! Exciting isn’t it, to be able to showcase his musical talent to different guests and passer by’s every night, trust me when I say, people actually come back just for his performance every night, touching you might say? Yes! It sure is!

Other performers for the event include the very handsome Stephen Rahman Hughes, one guy who can definitely make the girls go gaga =) and Datin Seri Tiara Jacquelina who staged their play Puteri Gunung Ledang, fashion shows by various designers, performance by Datuk Siti Nurhaliza herself and the very talented Ning Baizura whom Dennis has the opportunity of collaborating with!

As everyone knows Ning is known for her dynamic vocals and paired together with the master skills of Dennis and his violin they managed to make a beautiful rendition of Yue Liang !

A Journey Through Time goes on for another week, so if you haven’t had the chance to catch any of his performances live, just walk by star hill late evening and you will be fortunate enough to catch the much talked about maestro in action =)

Here’s the video for your viewing pleasure….

Catwalk, Sashay , Pose !

Perhaps the three important words for a model, there could be more, I wouldn’t know, not exactly model material, if you get what I mean :P But I know two grand people who are definitely model material!

One the uber handsome hunk of a boss, Dennis Lau who can definitely compete with those men you see doing shaving commercials, trust me guys, he has the knack for it :P and one more the dazzling and gorgeous, and not to forget towering over, Miss Syafinaz Selamat !

Amber Chia who has done very well in partnership with Ford Modelling Agency to conduct the Ford Model Search in our homeland had the finals at Rootz club, located at the Rooftop of Lot 10 recently, Dennis was asked to perform his hit song ‘Mahkota’ alongside Syafinaz as a highlight showcase. Very apt I must say because the winner of the night definitely felt as if she has a Mahkota placed on her, while the male winner definitely felt like a king :p

The event was full of glitz and glamour just like it’s hostess Amber Chia who has a sense of golden touch, as everything she dabbles in has always worked out wonders for her and kudos to her, also a small city girl who has made it big! And by big we mean really big, it’s really heartwarming to see our fellow Malaysians reach the highest level they can, especially those who work really hard as Amber, and we wish the Ford Model finalists and winner all the best in their future endeavors, dreams can be turned into reality, it sure did for the two winners, Kelly Jagan and Danny Lim !

It was a great pleasure indeed to have Dennis perform at the inaugural finale of the Ford Model Search, and we definitely look forward to many more! We would like to wish Kelly all the best for the international finals in Brazil and wish Danny a whole lot of luck in pursuing his modeling stints in the United States!

Amber Chia will definitely see more seasons of Ford Models, and this is probably the best thing for our country and it’s pool of aspiring models!

The video for your viewing and ogling pleasure :P
